L´Arc de Triomphe

Vue d´avion

L`Arc de Triomphe by night

I was in the middle of the street. You have to pay attention. The drivers won´t do it for you.

It is always busy and crowded, but I have the impression that it is not that crowded anymore since the mayor of Paris gave priority to the cyclists

Les Champs Elyssées at the end Arc de Triomphe

The Boulevard is a big shopping area. You will find lots of big brands.

A small nice shopping area on Champs-Élysées and as usual Starbucks has a café in there

I´m the original and you? I thought that was funny. Eau de Cologne.

Montmartre

One of the most famous tombs

Dalida rests near her home, in the upper part of the Montmartre cemetery.

The tomb dominates Paris. Below, the trees she loved. A tenacious and romantic ivy slides between the graves, Orlando had Alsan sculpt a life-size Dalida, who seems to watch over herself. Draped in white, she advances, hair blowing in the wind.

Behind her, a triumphal arch with a sun whose rays create a halo. The place has great charm, you breathe a bucolic peace there.

In the list of cemeteries in France, this residence is the most decorated with flowers.

Notre Dame Cathedral

Paris´ most famous construction area

Here you can see where the oak trees for the roof truss come from

Odéon theatre

One of the 6 national theatres in France

St. Sulpice

one of Paris´wonderful churches with lots of nice restaurants and shops around

6th arrondissement, Odéon district

Built in the 17th century, with foundations from the 12th century, the Eglise Saint-Sulpice is one of the biggest churches in Paris. Located in the heart of the 6th arrondissement, in the Saint-Germain-des-Près district, it is definitely worth a visit. Inside, admire the nave, the Chapelle de la Vierge with a statue of Jean-Baptiste Pigalle, the sacristy and its wood-panelling in a Louis XV style, mural paintings by Eugène Delacrois, and the large organ by Cavaillé-Coll. Another curiosity: the gnomon, (the part of a sundial which casts a shadow), with a strand of brass wire incrusted on it which represents the meridian line. Outside, from Place Saint-Sulpice, admire the beautiful facade with its two recognizable towers. The Eglise Saint-Sulpice is one of the sites in Paris where the 'Da Vinci Code' by Dan Brown, best seller in 2003, was filmed. After several months of renovation, the 3 paintings of Eugène Delacroix of the Chapelle des Saints-Anges are now accessible to the public.

Jardin du Luxembourg

One of Paris most visited sites

Situated on the border between Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Latin Quarter, the Luxembourg Gardens, inspired by the Boboli Gardens in Florence, were created upon the initiative of Queen Marie de Medici in 1612. The gardens, which cover 25 hectares of land, are split into French gardens and English gardens. Between the two, lies a geometric forest and a large pond. There is also an orchard with a variety of old and forgotten apples, an apiary for you to learn about bee-keeping and greenhouses with a collection of breathtaking orchids and a rose garden. The garden has 106 statues spread throughout the park, the monumental Medici fountain, the Orangerie and the Pavillon Davioud. There are many activities and facilities for children such as puppets, rides and slides. Adults, whether they are Parisians or tourists, can play chess, tennis, and bridge or remote control boats. The cultural programme is characterized by free photography exhibitions on the garden railings and by concerts in the bandstand.

The Panthéon

In the heart of the Latin Quarter, in Paris, you will find the Church Sainte-Geneviève. Its a temple of the great men and great women of the nation.

Boulevard Haussmann

The boulevard is one of the most elegant in Pairs. Its 2 kilometres long. The most crowded area begins on Place Saint-Augustin and ends at the department stores of Printemps and Galeries Lafayette, passing by the Opéra Garnier.

Printemps departement store

Printemps is the world leading Department store for fashion, luxury and beauty. 44,000 sqm dedicated to shopping. There are several restaurants. One on top of the building. All for the high-end consumer.

Galeries Lafayette

The world-famous Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann symbolizes French elegance at its best. This big department store offers more than 3,500 brands, several restaurants and a terrace with a breathtaking view of the monuments of Paris. And biensûr the famous Coupole.

La Madeleine

Shopping, culture and fine food and wine are on the programme for a walk in the Madeleine district. The recipe for a perfect outing in this area of Paris: begin your walk with a pinch of culture (Pinacothèque, Eglise de la Madeleine, Théâtre de la Madeleine ...), then add a dash of gourmet indulgence (Ladurée...), and sprinkle with a zest of shopping (Zara home, John Galliano, Kenzo, Madura ...).

Fondation Louis Vuitton à Neuilly

A wonderful museum, breathtaking architecture

I saw Rothko. A bit crowded but still interesting.

There is small bus running from the Arc de Triomphe to the museum; but you can take also the métro. Its a 10 minutes walk to the Foundation.

Besides the Foundation Neuilly is a very nice town which is not Paris anymore but it s the suburb very chic with a lot of rich and famous people living there.

Mark Rothko

1903-1970

The Fondation Louis Vuitton presented the first retrospective in France dedicated to Mark Rothko (1903-1970) since the exhibition held at the Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris in 1999. The retrospective brought together some 115 works from the largest international institutional collections, including the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., the Tate in London and the Phillips Collection in Washington D.C., and from international private collections, including the artist's family collection.

Displayed chronologically across all of the Fondation’s spaces, the exhibition traced the artist’s entire career: from his earliest figurative paintings to the abstract works that he is most known for today.
